From sign-up to your first request
- 1Create an account and verify your email
Sign up with your email and a password, then enter the code we email you. Your free credit is added as soon as your email is confirmed.
- 2Generate your API key
In your dashboard, open API keys and create one. It is shown once, so copy it somewhere safe. You can have up to 10 keys and revoke any of them.
- 3Make your first authenticated request
Send the key in the
X-API-Keyheader, like the examples above. Responses are JSON with UTC timestamps.
Two-factor sign-in is required. Turn it on in your dashboard within 14 days of signing up to keep API access. If you don't, your keys pause until you do.
What you can build
Read the latest bid/ask and settled candles, and act only on fresh prices. TickFeed supplies the data only; it never places orders.
Price boards, spreads and intraday charts across 60 forex pairs and 11 metals.
Page through stored candles from M1 to D1, with gaps reported rather than filled, so a backtest never trades on invented bars.
Give Claude, Cursor or your own agent live prices and candles as MCP tools, with the same key and balance.

| Auth | X-API-Key header | X-API-Key or Authorization: Bearer, or sign in from Claude |
| Data | Prices, candles, ticks, gaps, symbols, usage | The same data as read-only tools |
| Billing | One balance and price list for both | |

Markets and data
Gold, silver, platinum and palladium, gold in several
currencies, and the forex majors, crosses and exotics. /v1/symbols lists them all, free.
S1, S5, S15, S30, M1, M5, M15, M30, H1, H4 and D1. Up to 5,000 bars per request, with pagination for longer ranges.
Millisecond tick time, spread and a freshness label on every price: fresh, market_closed or stale.
Every bid/ask change for about the last six months, and a list of every gap in a range, each marked as a normal closure or not.
How our candles work
- Labelled by start time, in UTC. An hourly candle stamped 14:00 covers 14:00 to 14:59. The candle that is still
forming comes back marked
"complete": false. - A trading day starts at 5pm New York time, the standard for forex and gold (21:00 UTC in summer, 22:00 in winter). Daylight saving changes are handled for you.
- The quiet daily close is visible, not hidden. Every candle includes its spread, so you can see it widen around 5pm New York. Gold also pauses for an hour each weekday.
- Missing data is reported, never invented.
/v1/candles/XAUUSD/gapslists every gap and says whether it was a normal market closure.
History available
| Timeframe | XAUUSD history from | Depth |
|---|---|---|
| M1 | 28 Sep 2026 | 5 weeks |
| M5 | 08 Jul 2026 | 4 months |
| M15 | 11 Dec 2025 | 11 months |
| M30 | 07 Feb 2025 | 21 months |
| H1 | 01 Jun 2023 | 3.4 years |
| H4 | 20 Mar 2023 | 3.6 years |
| D1 | 19 Mar 2023 | 3.6 years |
Updated automatically from our stored data. Every pair has the same timeframes; /v1/symbols (free) returns history_from for each one, so your code can check depth before a backtest.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a card to start?
No. Create an account, confirm your email and you get $25 (or £25 / €25) of free credit, enough for 12,500 price requests. Add funds only when you want more.
How are requests charged?
Each successful request draws from a prepaid balance: a price quote is one unit, candles are one unit per 100 bars returned, and symbol lists, usage and health checks are free. Failed requests are never charged.
Why do I need two-factor sign-in?
Your dashboard controls API keys and money, so two-factor sign-in is required. Turn it on within 14 days of signing up; if you don't, API access pauses until you do. It takes a minute with an authenticator app or email codes.
Is the newest candle final?
Not always. The candle that is still forming is returned with complete set to false, and its values can change until it closes. Filter on complete when your logic needs settled bars.
Should I use REST or MCP?
Use REST from your own code: bots, backtests, dashboards and scheduled jobs. Use MCP when an AI assistant or agent should fetch the data itself. Both use the same keys, prices and balance.
Does TickFeed place trades or give advice?
No. TickFeed provides market data only. It does not execute trades or give investment advice.
